TTS for Constructed Languages

Published 5/24/2023

Description:

Constructed languages are artificial languages that have been developed artificially, rather than being evolved naturally over time. This novel text-to-speech tool synthesizes hypothetical pronunciations for constructed languages. To generate speech clips for languages without any speakers or audio examples, we approximate this speech from the constitute phonetic sounds extracted from spoken examples of 100 natural languages using a combination of concatenative and formant synthesis techniques.
